REC

What is it about horror movies? Honestly, I don't get it. I know I'm stepping on many toes here but I don't really care.

Maybe I just don't like spending two hours of my life watching how one or more psychos/monsters/evil spirits etc. terrorize, torture and eventually chop up some poor, unsuspecting 20-somethings (have you noticed that old people almost never find themselves in such a messy situation - what IS up with that?) who could've saved themselves a LOT of drama if they had just picked a different movie to star in.

If I want to get an adrenalin rush I go to a theme park, get on the fastest, meanest, craziest roller-coaster I can see and scream my heart out while dropping at a speed of 130 km/h with my hands up in the air. Or I just visit my boyfriend's family.

For me, most horror movies just aren't worth watching. But, before you get all fired up and start listing the reasons why I'm wrong I have to say there are exceptions. And a good example of that is the Spanish movie REC.

It lasts a bit more than an hour but the suspense got me so exhausted, it appeared to me it went for at least two and a half hours! I couldn't take my eyes of the screen - even if I wanted to- and towards the end, in a feeble attempt to soothe my nerves, I put my hand in front of my eyes (like that would help) and hoped for the best, expecting the worst. Like I read in a review "REC is what Blair Witch Project would like to be when it grows up", or something along the lines. I couldn't put it better myself.
